Remote Divorce Mediation

Remote Divorce Mediatiom, The Institute for Mediation has brought remote mediation to a point where anything that could be done with the  parties in the same room can be done by remote mediation. For this to happen great strides have been made in the technological aspects of remote mediation. With the technological advances by the Institute for Mediation you can conference with your attorney you can conference or caucus with the mediator or all the parties can be in the same room. As a matter of fact if the mediator leaves you and your attorney. if represented, to go to caucus with the other party, you and your attorney can speak confidentially just as you would if you were in the same room together.

In remote mediation just as in a local mediation you may or may not be represented by an attorney. If represented by an attorney, The Institute for Mediation gives you not only a audio feed but also a video feed for all the parties if so desired. Just as in a local mediation, the mediator may separate the parties, or share information with only one side. The matter of confidentiality is preserved in the remote mediation.

While the process of mediation in and of itself saves the parties thousands or tens of thousands of dollars, remote mediation at the Institute for Mediation increases the savings by thousands of dollars in many cases. Travel time for the parties, representatives and attorneys is all eliminated by using the institute’s remote mediation. Just to see how this might work, let’s look at what a mediation could cost if only the attorneys had to travel to the mediation. Let’s say the attorneys drive an hour and a half and both of them charge $400 an hour. $400 times 1 1/2 is $600, times two for two attorneys, times two for the round-trip is $2400. So not considering travel time for representatives from my insurance company or the parties there is a cost of over $2400 before anyone opens their mouth in mediation. I think it is very simple to see how the institute’s remote mediation can save some serious money. You can decide if you would rather spend the money and cost for mediation on the local scene or put that money in your pocket and have a nice vacation.

All of the above does not take into account the emotional currency that is required to be spent with time in the court or even driving and  attending a local mediation. We at the Institute for Mediation would ask you to ask yourself if you would be happier and less stressed spending less money and attending the mediation through our remote mediation facility. You will remain in your home, your attorney will be in his office, and the mediator will be at the institute’s remote mediation facility. After the agreement is reached between the parties, you will be given a copy of that agreement which you will approve, and then electronically sign. A copy of that agreement will be sent to you by email before the mediation session is adjourned. Your attorney will be able to sign the same agreement and the copy that you are sent by email will have a legally binding signature of all parties to the agreement if they agree. If they don’t agree the next step is litigation just as it would be if you were in a local mediation center. We can handle mediations around the world and we do. Give us a call today to see how we can meet your mediation needs without you leaving the comfort of your home or office.
